Master's Degree Program in Intelligent Systems Engineering responds to the growing demand of the labour market for new professional figures, such as Data Architect, Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Data Scientist, with a special focus on systems where data plays a crucial role in providing innovative functions. Surveys (Digital Skills Observatory, 2019) clearly show unequivocally that companies need graduates in scientific and technical disciplines to master the digital transformation of industrial processes and the processes of interaction between people and computerized or information systems.

The job market requires students with IT skills and technical competences on production and services. The training activities covered by this course concern statistics, mathematical optimization, artificial intelligence, BigData analysis, distributed system architectures including enabling factors such as cloud computing, 5G technologies and the use of sensors for data acquisition through the measurement of physical parameters of interest.  Activities that address the impact of innovation and digital transformation on business models and processes, as well as insights into specific application areas such as sensors, robotics, bioengineering, industrial installations, energy systems are also part of the degree programme.

Graduates

At the end of the study program, intelligent systems engineers will be able to model, design, analyse and manage - also from a process optimization perspective - systems in which technological variables, both software and hardware, interact in a complex manner with economic, organisational and social variables. Graduates will be able to analyse different kind of data, including BigData, to extract useful information for strategic planning and identification of new business opportunities, as well as to develop solutions aiming at improving the quality of life of individuals. They will also be able to translate needs into technical requirements for digital technology-based services or processes. They will be professionals in the contemporary complexity, in industry and health 4.0, as well as in digital service companies.

Programming, Models and Methods of Optimisation and Statistics, Modelling and Networks Control and Events Systems, Distributed System Architectures, Machine Learning, Digital Innovation and Digital Transformation, Human Factor in Digital Transformation, English.

2st year

Group A (characterising scope) Smart systems, Deep learning for BigData, Computer vision.

Group B Project Management and Digital Mindset

Group C Smart Sensing and Measurements, Electronics and interfaces for Industrial Applications, Wearable Mechatronic Systems for the Analysis of Human Behaviour, Cyber-physical robotics.

* The curriculum must be completed with 3 elective modules, provided that the following is respected:

・ 1 to 3 modules in group A

・ 0 to 1 modules in Group B

・ 0 to 2 modules in Group C choosing an additional elective module in Groups A, B and C.
