About Us

University and its organization

The Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome is a university that was founded at the end of the Eighties upon the initiative of the then Prelate of Opus Dei, Bishop Álvaro del Portillo, with the aim of establishing a university clinic in Rome that could offer a valid human and professional training path and meet the needs of the human person, guided by the Christian spirit of service. The institution has two promoting bodies: the Campus Bio-Medico Association and Campus Bio-Medico Spa. The latter owns the University Hospital building and properties of the university campus.

Since January 1st 2022 the management of the University Hospital has been transferred to the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital Foundation, consisting of the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome and its promoting bodies. The Foundation and the University work in close cooperation in order to accomplish the same mission. The Prelate of Opus Dei cares for the Christian identity of the University, in harmony with the civil and non-confessional nature of the institution, as well as with its scientific, legal and economic independence.

We currently offer 14 Degree Courses. The Trigoria Campus now includes the “Trapezio” Educational Complex, the University Hospital, the Biomedical and Bioengineering Advanced Research Complex (PRABB), and the Healthcare Centre for the Elderly (CESA).

The common goal is to form young people with a passion for reality, for the world and the environment in which they live, for the profession they are preparing to enter and to instill in them a conception of work as an experience of personal growth and fulfilment and a tool with which to serve others.
