The Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome was founded to respond to the needs of the human person, in all its dimensions. It was Blessed Álvaro del Portillo who encouraged a group of people to set up, in Rome, a hospital and a university that would serve the needs of the human person.
Today the University is promoted by members of Opus Dei together with many others who are not members. Some are not even Christians, but all nevertheless share the aspiration to develop a science that is truly humanitarian.
The University has in all respects a fundamentally civil nature, but it is permeated by Christian values with which everyone can identify. The Prelature of Opus Dei, through activities of doctrinal and spiritual formation, supports the people of the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome in living out this mission.
