Research areas and methodologies

3 systematic reviews of international multicentric literature.
One by invitation for Minerva Urologica and Nefrologica on the use of mobile apps in Urology and their usefulness in the professional life of Urologists. One for the guidelines of the European Society of Urology to evaluate and compare the outcome of one stage urethroplasty with oral mucosa against other open and endoscopic techniques for the treatment of urethral strictures due to lichen sclerosus. Finally one in collaboration with the University of Sheffield to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of magnetic resonance in the differentiation between muscle and non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.

2 prospective multicenter studies: one on lavage fluids during radical cystectomy to identify the risk of seeding during laparoscopic or robot-assisted radical cystectomy, the other on radiological (CT) factors predictive of aggressive behavior of parenchymal renal tumors in clinical stage cT1b-T2.

1 single-center prospective observational study for the validation of the "optical transduction sensory system for the characterization of liquid-phase samples", in the identification of cells and/or cellular patterns indicative of high-grade urothelial neoplasia in urine.

1 prospective and monocentric observational study for the realization of partial Off-Clamp Nephrectomy with the help of PlasmaJet Surgical System.

1 monocentric pilot study for the application of a magnetic endourethral sphincter for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence and secondary to prostate surgery.

1 single-center pilot study on radiomic analysis of multiparametric magnetic resonance T2- and ADC-weighted images of the prostate in the diagnosis of clinically significant prostate cancer.

1 study on the Impact of audio-visual material from the European Society of Urology (Patient Information) on patient awareness and anxiety in anticipation of surgery in collaboration with the Patient Information Office of the European Society of Urology.

1 prospective multicenter study on the correlation of VI-RADS score 5 and pelvic lymph node involvement in bladder tumors using multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging.

1 Phase 3 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of apalutamide in subjects with localized or locally advanced high-risk prostate cancer who are candidates for radical prostatectomy. PROTEUS STUDY. Investigator Responsible for the experimentation: Prof. R. Papalia
