The course is aimed at social and health professionals who assist or wish to assist patients suffering from chronic-developmental pathologies in an advanced stage. 

Educational objectives

The course aims to raise awareness among social and health workers (OSS) regarding the philosophy and principles of palliative care. It is aimed at social and health professionals who assist or wish to assist patients suffering from chronic-developmental pathologies in an advanced stage.

Particular attention will be dedicated to identifying the role that they play in the path of care of the patient suffering from chronic-developmental pathology in an advanced stage. Equal attention will be paid to relationships with the family, with the other members of the team, with the public and private care structures in the area and with the non-profit organizations operating in the palliative care network.

Didactic structure and thematic areas

October 17 2018:

  • Curing the disease, caring for the sick: principles and philosophy of palliative care
  • Law 38 of 2010: provisions to guarantee access to palliative care and pain therapy
  • Role and competences of the OSS in palliative care

24 October 2018

  • Interprofessionality as a privileged way of care
  • Interactive session in simulated scenario on interprofessional communication

November 7, 2018

  • The needs of the patient in an advanced stage of illness and his family: to treat symptoms, pain and suffering
  • Death and dying: the central issue of palliative care

Certificate

At the end of the course a certificate of attendance will be issued.
