The final report of fellow Mario Fittipaldi
The period spent in the department of Pediatric Heart Surgery at the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre (from 1 January 2013 to 30 June 2013) it allowed me to be integrated as a resident belonging to the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Unit and Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos.
The surgical activity allowed me to participate as an assistant in over one hundred complex pediatric cardiac surgery operations and to be first operator in some cases of medium-low complexity (ASD, PDA). As a "resident internal doctor" in service at the Pediatric Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos I was involved in the activity of night and holiday watch.
The research activity, although not agreed in advance (I had asked for a purely "surgical" rotation), is conveyed in the publication of the chapter "Patent ductus arteriosus" in the text "Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery and Intensive Care" Da Cruz, Eduardo M. , Ivy, Dunbar, Jaggers, James (Eds.).
I subsequently completed my training period through a collaboration at the "Guch" pediatric and congenital adult heart surgery as a clinical fellow at the Diana Princess of Wales, Birmingham Childrens Hospital.
