The opportunity to cultivate and implement my research projects was supported by a scholarship in support of mobility made available by the Alumni Association of the Biomedical Campus. This allowed me to spend a year at the Stanford University Department of Urology, where I had the opportunity to work on several projects starting with the use of Biosensor for the diagnosis of urinary infections.

The main focus of my research activity has been Uro-Oncology. In particular, I have dealt with studies on the diagnosis and treatment of bladder cancer, both through translational research projects (definition of urinary genetic markers for the diagnosis of bladder cancer, application of laser endomicroscopy for the diagnosis and treatment of bladder cancer, EGFR as a diagnostic and prognostic marker of bladder cancer) and through clinical research projects. Among these, a study on the outcome of patients undergoing radical cystectomy for bladder cancer managed according to the multidisciplinary ERAS (early recovery after surgery) protocol, aimed at optimizing perioperative management, reducing hospitalization times.

With this study I had the honor of winning the Best Poster award at the last AUA Congress (American Urological Association) held in New Orleans, where I also presented the project on the use of Biosensor for the rapid diagnosis of urinary infections with simultaneous antibiogram .

During the year I also had the opportunity to publish two reviews on bladder cancer imaging and to attend all the Department's educational and training activities, including Ground Rounds, Indications, Oncology Boards, seminars with visiting professors, lectures, scientific writing, oral presentation and statistics.
