Unique in Central and Southern Italy with the first immersive multisensory room in Europe and made-in-Italy technologies for research and innovation with companies, scientists and students
The ceremony marking the opening of the 2024-25 academic year. Professor's keynote address. Maria Chiara Carrozza, president of the National Research Council (CNR)
Rome, October 15 2024 – A man was born in Rome simulation and experimentation center for business, research and teaching unique in all of Central and Southern Italy. A structure open to the new territory Simulation center of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, inaugurated in the presence of the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso who cut the ribbon together with the university leaders on the occasion of theopening of the 2024-25 academic year. The event had the honor of hosting the lectio magistralis of the president of the CNR, professor Maria Chiara Carrozza and the presence of the president of the Lazio Region Francesco Rocca.
Over 400 square meters, inside the modern CU.Bo building with “almost zero” energy impact, divided into spaces equipped for promote learning through new technologies, promote research projects on enabling technologies and open innovation in the Health-Tech-Sustainability sector, provide spaces for businesses and other centers for their research and development activities.
The first multi-sensory Immersive Reality room in Europe, designed and built in Italy specifically by Accurate for theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, It is able to offer an environment where heat, wind, visual and olfactory effects truly influence the work. Reality is faithfully reproduced, along with the physical and emotional stresses (stress, tension, noise, and more) that operators experience in clinical scenarios, in home care and in emergencies.
The Simulation Center UCBM It is a modular platform for teaching that is increasingly based on experience and interactivity. to offer students and all researchers learning opportunities in real-life situations and, if necessary, to learn by making mistakes in complete safety.
Thanks to organized spaces which reproduce real hospital and domestic environments and highly technological equipment combined with innovative machinery and mannequins, it will be possible to carry out simulations in non-clinical fields from cardiology and interventional radiology, rianimazione, from the operating room to dentistry for aspiring doctors and nurses.
The rooms of the Simulation Center will be home to theJoint Observatory and Laboratory UCBM-Global Health AgreementThe classrooms may also be used from businesses, small and medium-sized and not only, working on new devices and technologies. Sensors, cameras and a real direction They also allow you to record, review and reuse the exercises and experiments carried out within the Simulation Center.
"The Simulation Center of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, inaugurated today, represents a unique reality for the whole of Central-Southern Italy - has ofchiarato the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso "This is a platform designed and built in our country, at the forefront of teaching, but also a point of reference for businesses and startups, which will be able to develop research on the most innovative technologies here. The Simulation Center represents a tangible example of Italy's leading role in advancements and innovations in various fields of technology."
“The Simulation Center will help our students grow in their passion for studying and their desire to do something great in life, in line with the values that have always inspired our University. – stated the president of the Campus Bio-Medico University, Carlo Tosti - As St. Josemaría Escrivá loved to say, "Dream, and reality will surpass your dreams." Today, after thirty years of history, this project is realizing a great dream based on technological innovation at the service of the holistic formation of the person. We have an additional opportunity to bring cutting-edge, capable, and passionate professionals into the society of the future.
"Our University is proud to have inaugurated and already activated the new Simulation Center on the occasion of the inauguration day of the 32nd Academic Year. As highlighted today in her Lectio Magistralis by the President of the National Research Council, Professor Maria Chiara Carrozza, the Simulation Center is a fundamental tool that a modern University must have today to provide increasingly experiential, innovative and research-based teaching, even for the most advanced post-graduate professional training. – underlined the professor. Eugenio Guglielmelli, Rector UCBM - This structure therefore represents a virtuous opportunity for collaboration with research institutions and all leading Italian companies that showcase cutting-edge Made in Italy products worldwide. Together, we aim to increasingly seize the strategic opportunities a platform like this can offer to develop a technology transfer model capable of attracting an increasing number of large companies, innovative SMEs, research centers, incubators, and startups to the advanced simulation space, enhancing quality and accelerating innovation and social impact.
“The Simulation Center UCBM helps us build the future – he said Andrea Rossi, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager UCBM We have set up a multifunctional platform capable of engaging students and professionals, scientific teams and corporate research teams. We see it as a driving force for development for the University, for businesses, and, consequently, for the entire country. The immersive room, unique in Europe, is the flagship of a project destined, over the years, to transform our university into a true hub for research and technology transfer. A great opportunity for our young people, which we now share with the academic community, the local community, and the country as a whole.
“Research-based education represents a university model based on the so-called 'competitive excellence' to attract and retain the best talents and prepare them to face current challenges – the professor underlined Maria Chiara Carrozza, president of the CNR - Today, AI for Science is revolutionizing and accelerating scientific discoveries in multiple fields of knowledge, representing a challenge of responsibility and expertise. Research allows us to address contemporary scientific questions, studying and analyzing phenomena with all available tools, engaging with the world of public and private innovation, and cultivating the method and culture of "scientific evidence." Through personal participation in laboratory and simulation activities, learning is enriched and fosters the ability to approach knowledge from an interdisciplinary perspective. In this context, the Simulation Center UCBM represents an opportunity for complete growth."
"As president of SESAME, It fills me with pride to see the birth of centers of excellence such as the Simulation Center of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma - he has declared Pier Luigi Ingrassia, Scientific Director of CeSi, President of SESAM It is now well documented that simulation will play an essential role in improving healthcare systems in the near future, as highlighted by the Global Consensus Statement on Simulation-based Practice in Healthcare, drafted by 50 different scientific societies from 67 countries and published last May. Facilities like this simulation laboratory are essential for training professionals capable of addressing the challenges of clinical practice with competence and confidence, contributing to quality healthcare and error reduction.
