The reunion in the sign of the 25th academic year
It is an encounter with the past that looks to the future that of former students UCBM, in Rome on Saturday 18 November for the meeting organized by the Alumni association. “The Global Alumni Reunion – began the President Felice Barela in his greeting – it seems to me to be the best way to start our 25th academic year which we are preparing to officially kick off in a few days. We can say that in just five decades a lot of work has really been done, together with many people who have put in their commitment, sacrifice and enthusiasm so that what was a beautiful idea became reality in theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma".
“A reality that wants to train not only professionals but also and above all men”, the Rector seems to echo Raffaele Calabrò in addressing the former students, now experts in Medicine and Engineering around Italy and the world: "I am sure that the years spent here have given you the solid roots that you carry into your workplaces today and that represent that common heritage that makes you feel you belong to the same community".
Over the years, the network UCBM it is growing with an eye to the models of the great European universities such as those illustrated by the experts from Oxford, Bocconi and the University of Navarra in the morning session of the meeting. What emerges is a composite picture that takes its cue from US campuses where "alumni engagement is a real lifestyle," explains Christine Fairchild, Director of Alumni Relations at Oxford University, with twenty years of experience at Harvard. In fact, a real virtuous circle is established between the alumni, who can have continuous access to knowledge and professional updating as well as new relational and social opportunities, and the University, which in turn benefits from exceptional testimonials, ambassadors of the brand and a constant bond with the world of work. The network also becomes a way for graduates to do good, an opportunity to "give back" to the university of origin, through donations to support specific projects.
“It was very exciting to come back 10 years after graduating - is one of the many voices in the chorus of former students, Paolo Piro, biomedical engineer - and meet people I hadn't seen for a long time. I was able to find out what former colleagues and professors are doing around the world, as well as how the campus is changing, how teaching and research activities are evolving and multiplying and how are diversifying more and more. I am happy to be part of this community”.
