Ten million euros to support the best proposals on the circular economy
30 March, 2021 - The collection of candidate projects for Circular4Recovery, the call for projects on the circular economy promoted by the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome and by Marzotto Venture Accelerator, was completed in February. There are over 200 quality projects submitted, divided into five categories. The entrepreneurial projects presented concern the Circular Bioeconomy, for 34% of the total projects, the Circular City & Land, with 26% of the proposals, the Circular Energy Economy with 18%, the News Circular Life Cycles with 15% and the Circular Water Economy with 7%.
The current phase of screening and evaluation of candidate projects will lead to the selection of 20 jobs that will access a quarterly pre-acceleration program aimed at validating technological solutions and business models. The researchers and developers of the top 10 proposals will receive more than €10 million in services and funding. A challenge that engages the Italian and European ecosystem, but also involves innovators from all over the world.
In fact, one out of four projects comes from abroad and projects carried out outside Europe have also been registered (3% of the projects come from the United States of America and the United Arab Emirates and 1% from Canada and India). “The initiative of the Circular4Recovery call aims to enhance the heritage of the ecosystem of sustainable innovation. This objective was fully achieved, to such an extent that the participation registered exceeded our expectations.
The support of key partners committed to sustainability and Open Innovation such as Enel, ACEA, Bonifiche Ferraresi, Cisco, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, IBM and Maire Tecnimont”, He comments Roberto Guida, CEO of Marzotto Venture Accelerator.
