"PNRR unique opportunity to relaunch research and training"

Today we are facing a unique opportunity to relaunch research and the university: the funds are there to restore stability and make programming, now we need to act. And research institutions will have to be able to take full advantage of this opportunity".

"Today theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma sees the work carried out in recent years in research recognized thanks to the presence of fundamental institutions for the country such as the CNR and the Accademia dei Lincei - has explained Raffaele Calabrò, Rector ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma - The University is growing in the areas of biomedicine, information technology, circular economy and robotics in a climate of great collaboration with other Italian and international universities, with other research institutes and the world of industry".

A strategic collaboration, the one with the CNR, launched with joint projects since 2004, also consolidated with the signing of a framework agreement in 2012 that is still active and which includes various agreements between UCBM and various CNR Departments. The last agreement signed in 2020 activated, at UCBM, an interdepartmental Research Unit of the CNR, with the Departments of Physics and Bio-Agrifood Sciences. Numerous researches conducted in collaboration and based on competitive tenders, European, national and regional projects. Also important is the national doctoral program on Artificial Intelligence being activated in collaboration with the CNR and four other Italian universities, for which UCBM she is the leader for the course with a specialization in the thematic area of ​​Health and Life Sciences.

In his lectio magistralis Massimo Inguscio he recalled the long “journey of discovery” of his professional life and, in indicating the direction in which Italian scientific research should go, he underlined its importance for the future of the country: “We need young people to build a multidisciplinary future. We need coherence of atoms, coherence of light but we also need coherent strategies for research. Science has shown how there are always surprises and new possibilities. The spring of curiosity is inside man and will never run out. Politics has finally understood how important research is for the planet and for man and therefore for the financing of research and the recruitment of new researchers. Here atUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma the "supermultidisciplinarity" that unites knowledge and creates fertile ground for producing innovations in many sectors, from medicine to agriculture, mixing many different professionalisms is already being achieved".
