Investments in scholarships and cutting-edge technologies for students of all degree programmes
July 8, 2020 - "The direct confrontation between teacher and student, laboratory experiments, the daily relationship with colleagues are impossible experiences to live in videoconference - he said Raffaele Calabrò, rector UCBM – We are aware of the delicate moment in which we are living but also of the need to go back to developing the cultural project of the University in the way that has always distinguished us”.
From September 2020 we will return to the desks - suitably distanced - with hybrid teaching, largely based on face-to-face teaching, precisely with the aim of enhancing relationships. Distance learning will not be neglected, building on the experimentation of the last few months, and set up as an integration of face-to-face teaching for topics suitable for the use of technologies. In fact, the acquisition of hardware and software instruments for laboratory, classroom or training activities is growing. For example, a powerful digital microscope will allow exercises involving the use of microscope preparations to be carried out remotely in all degree courses and a digital anatomical table will be introduced for the study and exercises of human anatomy. Not only that, there will be kits for robotics activities, IoT devices for automation and safety exercises, simulation software for electronic circuits, network equipment for studying computer networks, cloud computing hours for intelligence exercises artificial as well as a software for the simulation of laboratory experiences in the chemical-biological, environmental and food technology area.
University spaces also necessarily increase with a design that can favor the social distancing in classrooms and common areas. Rationalization of flows, obligation to respect safety distances, redefinition of catering spaces, possibility of take-away lunch, division into shifts and time slots for lessons from Monday to Saturday are just some of the prevention measures that UCBM is embarking on a return to university life.
Added to this is the further effort - in addition to the investment already made in the field of over one million euros for the scholarships – 100 thousand euros in favor of enrolled students and new freshmen who find themselves in economic difficulty due to the pandemic. "In this phase of return to normality we are committed to giving all young people the widest possibility of accessing our university by valuing merit and skills" he explained Andrea Rossi, director general of the University.
