Thanks to the collaboration of the Pensabambino Association
December 14, 2015 - Combining altruism and entertainment: this is the spirit with which the students ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma they had organized the Christmas Gala. The objective, two months later, can be said to have been fully achieved. In fact, all the funds raised during the event went to their intended destination.
Thanks to the collaboration of the "Pensabambino" Association managed by Prof. Pietro Ferrara, professor of Paediatrics, the family-type community "E. Vendramini" was able to renovate the new premises intended for the reception of eight children (from 3 to 9 years old) who do not have the possibility of living a developmental experience in their family adequate psychophysical. At the same time, the "Giaccone" Family Home (Virtus Onlus) and the Celestina Donati Oasis received pediatric medical devices of various kinds based on specific needs.
The project was born from the idea of two students of the degree course in Medicine and Surgery. The Student Council had given the go-ahead to organize a special evening in which the Campus Bio-Medico could become the architect of a charity work during the Christmas holidays.
Lake Albano, on 12 December 2014, was the backdrop, at "Villa del Cardinale", to the first Christmas Gala promoted by Laura Messina and Rocco Simone Flammia, fourth year medical students, supported by the President of the Student Council, Carlo Maria Giannitti, and by the representative of the second three-year degree course in Medicine and Surgery, Vincenzo Cerbone. All the students took part in the organization and there were numerous sponsors who contributed not only to the development of the evening but, above all, to the setting up of a prize lottery whose proceeds guaranteed to implement the main purpose of the event.
For the organizers of the evening, the decision to operate in the interests of many children was a successful 'experiment' and an example to follow for many future events.
