Rome, 11 July 2023 - Studying climate change and sustainability; biodiversity; environmental fate and sustainable nutrition; metagenomics, antibiotic resistance; biomedical engineering, computer science and robotics for the development of research, innovation and training activities in the field of relations between environment and health following a multidisciplinary approach One Health attracting young talents through collaboration in teaching activities, the development of advanced training courses and support for PhD scholarships: these are the objectives of the memorandum of understanding stipulated between ISPRA, the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection, and Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma (UCBM), lasting 3 years.

UCBM is a non-state university, which includes the Departmental Faculties of Science and Technology for Sustainable Development and One Health, Engineering and Medicine and Surgery, with 53 Research Units, which carry out basic and applied research in the field of life sciences, engineering, food sciences, sustainable development and one-health, life cycle assessment, green and circular economy, bioeconomy. It offers cutting-edge teaching, research and innovation facilities connected with the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico and within the Regional Nature Reserve of Decima Malafede for integrated training of professionals and individuals.
ISPRA, in addition to its environmental mandate activities, promotes and supports a global strategy for health, the environment and climate change, also through the study and monitoring of external factors linked to the onset of diseases.
Joint mission of ISPRA e UCBM is the promotion of interdisciplinarity in research and training, with particular reference to the areas that contribute to the protection of the environment and human health. With this protocol, they intend to contribute to ensuring increasingly safe and accessible environments according to principles of equity and sustainability, pursuing the good of the citizen, of all living beings and of the environment as the ultimate goal.
