Sustainability and innovation in the annual Efma managers conference

Ucbm continues to grow also on the path of internationalization and multidisciplinarity.

For this reason, from 29 June to 2 July it brought together over 300 managers, teachers and finance experts from all over the world on the topics of innovation in finance and the sustainable and responsible use of financial instruments, hosting the annual Efma meeting, the European Association of Financial Managers.

On the occasion Roberto Guida, full professor of Entrepreneurial Finance at Ucbm and president of the association, explained the value of the event: “To increasingly achieve the goals of ethical finance, it is necessary to ensure that public bodies, supervisory authorities, banks and investors go in the same direction – he explained – We are talking about governance rules, a top-down movement that allows the adoption of rules that stimulate moving towards sustainability.

In fact, ESG rules have already led to an adaptation of companies' behavior towards more ethical behaviour. Incentive mechanisms are therefore important to help those who respect certain principles, parameters and rights grow.
Those who do not adopt them will, in the long run, be penalized."

Over 300 scientific papers were presented at the Efma meeting with the participation of authoritative economists such as Toni Whited of the University of Michigan and Douglas Cumming of Florida Atlantic University.

“Ucbm has decided to host this event – continues Guida – aware that finance today also has a fundamental role in determining technological processes.

Economic and financial culture becomes a driving force for innovation: a theme that will find space in our teaching. In this sense, we are already planning a course in entrepreneurial finance in the third year of industrial engineering”.

"People think that mathematical models are harder or that verbal reasoning is easier and the answer is once again it really depends: some questions are good with verbal reasoning some with mathematical
reasoning."
