Rome, 5 July 2017 – The heart of Gina lollobrigida, the last diva of world cinema, beats hard for theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma. On the night of the Fourth of July, on the occasion of the evening of celebrations for her 90 years (70 of which in her career, an event organized by Tiziana Rocca production and supported, among others, by the Via Condotti association), the great actress launched an auction whose proceeds will go in part to Biomedical University Foundation: a statue, an exclusive sculpture (made by "Lollo" and the creator of the exclusive supercars Horacio Pagani) representing the silhouette of a woman standing next to a car of the future, has been auctioned to support some causes beneficial.
40 percent of the funds raised will go to the Biomedical University Foundation, which will thus allow theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma to operate in some important strategic research sectors and in the field of patient care.
In particular:
- Robotics and Nanotechnologies for human health;
- Translational research for diagnosis and therapy of degenerative diseases (cancer, Alzheimer);
- Hospital and territory (Telemedicine, Hospice, RSA)
The goal that unites all projects - Explains Paolo Arullani, Chairman of the Biomedical University Foundation - is embodied in the motto ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma 'Science for Man', fully in line with the will of Gina and Horacio and, therefore, towards the natural union of 'Art and Science for Man'. La Biomedical University Foundation was born on 24 June 2015 to promote and establish the first inalienable patrimonial fund (Endowment Fund) university in Italy, anticipating the country's need to create endowment funds for private public service structures. Its mission is to ensure the growth, development and international dissemination of the University's teaching, healthcare and research activities.
The Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma (UCBM) is a legally recognized non-state university that promotes integrated teaching, research and health care structures by pursuing the good of the person and respect for the environment in which they live as the main purpose of its activities.
