Highly respected faculty members offer students opportunities for international discussion and exchange within the university faculty. Internationalization offers a global education and a greater awareness of one's role in an age of complexity.

Rome, 3 October 2024 -  Offering global education in medicine and healthcare professions by focusing on greater internationalization of degree programs. This is the path chosen by theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma To enrich the international experience offered to students and create professionals aware of a global world driven by the complexity of phenomena such as pandemics, migration, and digitalization. 

Thus the Advisory Board was born International Academician of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery UCBM met for the first time on September 23rd with a large participation of students and teachers, demonstrating the interest of the entire faculty in the project. 

“Students need a training project that takes them beyond the strictly national dimension of the profession and offers them global level training.  – explained the coordinator of the Advisory Board, Professor Maurizio Trevisan - Globalization, increased migration flows, pandemics, the growing mobility of healthcare workers, and the enormous impact of global technological progress on all aspects of medicine make it urgent to open university education to an international perspective. Only in this way will our students be able to work as professionals in global medicine. 

The International Academic Advisory Board of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery UCBM will work with the leadership of the Faculty of Medicine and will meet periodically with the entire student and faculty community to promote innovation and globalization of medical education and research, strengthening the existing training project. In addition to periodic meetings with University faculty and students, the Board members will contribute to developing large-scale exchange programs of teachers and students and to identify possible collaborations in research. 

The initial core of the committee is composed of the Prof. Mark Cohen, Dean Carle Illinois College of Medicine, Senior Vice President University of Illinois and Chief Academic officer Carle Health; Prof. Glen Gaulton, Vice Dean and Director Center for Global Health, Perelman School of Medicine University of Pennsylvania; Prof Henry of Wax, Chairman Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Medicine, Saint Louis University; Prof Saverio Stranges, Chairman Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University. 

“These are very high-profile figures, with extensive experience in university medical training and a strong propensity for innovation. – underlined the dean of the departmental Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, prof. Vincenzo di Lazzaro - The choice to include on the Board two Italians who have held leading roles at leading North American universities after graduating in Italy is no coincidence. Their in-depth knowledge of the Italian and international context will allow them to provide a particularly significant and concrete boost to our educational project.. 

The committee is coordinated by Professor Maurizio Trevisan who, after having held the role of President and Rector of numerous North American universities, returned to Italy atUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma as a point of reference for internationalization.
