The showroom of the DAHMS project has been inaugurated

The afternoon was opened by the inauguration of the showroom dedicated to the demonstration of the devices created thanks to the DAHMS Project, a university-company collaboration program financed by the Ministry of Economic Development to improve the quality of life and the degree of self-sufficiency of chronically ill or elderly and disabled. Finally, the day ended - moderated by the journalist Paola Aristodemo - with a panel during which stakeholders and public and private research partners of the University took part.

The main activities and results achieved by the University in 2014 were presented

July 3, 2015 - “I admire this university, which knows how to unite different disciplines for an interaction between positive knowledge that Italy badly needs. I admire how much and how you work and do research, which is the prerequisite for the country's development". He was the President of the CNR, Prof. Luigi Nicolais, to introduce Thursday 2 July the Research Day (program), heart of the Research Week (program) proposed byUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma. “A thematic university - as remembered by the Rector, Prof. Andrea Onetti Muda - in which the exceptional synergy between the two Departmental Faculties allows the biomedical and engineering sciences to intertwine and give life to absolutely cutting-edge projects". One sector, that of research, "to which the University pays particular attention starting from the board of directors, which constantly allocates its own funds for the promotion of interdisciplinary projects". To remember the President ofUCBM, Dr. Felice Barela; to confirm it General Manager, Eng. Paolo Sormani: "Every week we examine the scientific proposals that come to us from the 2000 square meters of research laboratories".

UCBM in fifth place in Italy for the quality of scientific production

È was the Prof. Eugenio Guglielmelli, Vice Rector for Research, to present the main activities and results achieved by the University in 2014, the year in which theUCBM reached fifth place overall among Italian universities for the quality of scientific production (an average growth of 39% compared to the previous year), with an overall value of impact factor normalized that exceeded 2.000 points.

Eight scientific projects presented

La prof Marcella Trombetta and achievement Prof. Giorgio Minotti, Research coordinators of the two Departmental Faculties, introduced the five experiences that produced the most significant scientific publications in 2014: the electronic nose (video) which will allow less invasive and cheaper health screenings; The advanced computer system (video) which makes it possible to secure people and things in the event of floods, earthquakes or fires; there protein (video) which inhibited or expertly directed promises beneficial effects on a compromised liver; The platelet “smoothie”. (video) of the blood that regenerates the tissues and finally the discovery of antioxidant power of inulin (video), the sugar present in many foods.

On the other hand, three strategic projects won an internal research tender. This is the study of the correlation between obesity and frailty; the creation of robotic platforms that allow the injection of substances for disc regeneration with a new approach and finally the development of an intestinal barrier model based on organ-on-chip technology.
