"New profiles already requested"
di Beatrice Passarelli
To graduate the professionals of tomorrow, the university is called upon to interpret reality through a constant dialectic with the various social actors, from politics to schools and businesses. The latter tend to anticipate needs and indicate trends. We talked about it with Maurizio Tarquini, director of Unindustria di Roma e del Lazio and moderator of the round table at the Medtech conference (in the photo).
What is the importance of the relationship between industry and universities?
In the globalized context in which we live, the continuous interaction between company activity and university scientific research is a necessary factor of innovation and growth.
Especially in areas that have a direct impact on people's health, we absolutely need to merge technical, scientific and humanistic disciplines and work to improve collective well-being.
What opportunity will the future doctor-engineer represent for companies?
The presence of modern, highly specialized profiles with transversal skills such as the Medtech doctor is already in great demand by companies in the sector. Currently the demand for these figures exceeds supply. L'Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma leads the way in the area. I believe it is very important to immediately direct young people towards a multidisciplinary approach, to facilitate the exchange of information within companies and reach the new scientific-technological frontiers sooner.
