Medicine and engineering design tomorrow's professionals together

July 19, 2022 - To respond directly to the needs of the world of work, theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma enriches its training offer with two new degree courses: Medicine and Surgery 'Medtech' and Biomedical Engineering. Fully disbursed in English, the two paths arise from the synergistic collaboration between the Departmental Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and that of Engineering to train highly qualified professionals of the future, with transversal and integrated knowledge, with a strong background in science and strong skills in applied biomedical technologies.
'Medtech' is a 6 year journey designed to provide knowledge of a wide range of medical technologies and technical fields, such as: artificial intelligence, tissue engineering, nanotechnology, electronics, biomedical and surgical robotics, but also virtual reality and augmented, imaging and big data. "Today the daily life of the doctor is enriched by technology. With our cycle of studies we want to integrate clinical and engineering skills because we believe that this can make the difference. The doctor who knows his tools well is certainly able to offer a better diagnosis to his patients”States the teacher. Giovanni Di Pino, President of the new Master's Degree Course.
Biomedical Engineering is a three-year degree course designed on teaching the fundamentals of engineering coupled with a solid foundation in math and science, as well as basic medical knowledge. "We prepare all-round professionals to improve the quality and effectiveness of care and healthcare - explains the prof. Emiliano Schena, President of the Degree Course - this degree opens the door to a variety of roles in the biomedical sector, such as a designer of medical devices and diagnostic systems, as well as work in companies and hospitals for the clinical engineering service, with particular attention to risk analysis, procedures health and safety of medical devices". In order to encourage a real contamination between the two Faculties, many of the teachings are taught together with the medical students.
UCBM it is the place where doctors and engineers can grow together and train in a synergistic way to allow an increasingly concrete integration between these two sectors. Together they manage to design clear and new perspectives for the professional of the future.
