22 March, 2022 - The event was held yesterday in the Senate "Innovation and sustainability at the service of the individual and of the technological, social and economic development of the country” organized by Campus Bio-Medico SpA, to present the project for the construction of a multifunctional pole surrounded by nature, in a green area on the outskirts of Rome, with a high environmental and naturalistic value, where research, training and care can meet creativity, sport and well-being

L'Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma intends to create a multifunctional experimental park, i.e. a hub dedicated to health and training surrounded by greenery, capable of attracting start-ups, researchers and businesses to produce goods and services of common welfare in a constant osmosis between personal care, environmental ecosystem and sociality. It will be a real cutting-edge experimental center for the conservation of biodiversity, in which protected, usable, experimental agricultural and personal services green systems will coexist.

Also present at the event Maria Chiara Carriage, President of the National Research Council, pleased to be able to share this important moment for Rome and for Italian research. "I participated in the entire evolution of the project, up to the creation of the 'Master Plan'. A plan that combines research and training, translationality, clinical assistance, ethical and social principles and the protection of biodiversity, fundamental assets for Italy and for all the Mediterranean area”.

Secondo Giuseppe Garofano, President of the Campus Bio-Medico Association, "The Project represents something extraordinary in Italy and in Europe, a center of health and education immersed in nature. As our inspirer, Blessed Alvaro del Portillo, said in 1993, at the origins of the Campus, 'our university was born small but it's already big because you want to make it happen with a big heart, to the extent of the heart of Christ': we can grow further. Today the Campus is an ecosystem capable of attracting talents from the Mediterranean and from all over Europe capable of producing solutions for health and well-being of man and society, in an integrated vision in which personal care, attention to the environment and social relations are in constant osmosis. In this scenario, the Campus Bio-Medico, through the training, research and assistance, and a forward-looking development plan, constitutes an important asset for the country-system, as well as an international flagship, also capable of making the most of the opportunities of the PNRR for the benefit of the territory and with a view to urban redevelopment , in the belief that collaboration between the public and private sectors constitutes the winning logic for providing ever better services to the citizen".

"In the last two years - has explained Carlo Tosti, President of the University and the Campus Bio-Medico Polyclinic Foundationfollowing the pandemic we opened a Covid Center, a drive-in and a vaccination center, continuing with our Polyclinic to provide health services for pathologies such as cardiology, oncology, haematology. In December 2020 we inaugurated a palliative care center, while the Nuclear Medicine department has been operational since 21 February. For the future we have embarked on the path as IRCCS. Another initiative is the CUBO teaching building, acronym for Cultural Box, which is part of the Social Green Masterplan project, which provides for the construction of other buildings in an area of 90 hectares. This structure will be equipped with 8 new classrooms, a study area, common areas, a 330-seat auditorium and a simulation center of 450 square meters with 6 special rooms, i.e. home environment simulation, surgical room simulation, hospital stay simulation, space for virtual reality and digital manufacturing".
