A rich program of pre-Christmas appointments for students and employees
Il Grand Christmas Gala, which took place on December 5th at the Salone delle Fontane, with students and professors of the University, kicked off the pre-Christmas events scheduled for this month at Ucbm. The proceeds of the evening will be donated to charity in support of “A Ticket from the Heart”, the initiative promoted by the Chaplaincy of the University Hospital to raise funds for people who cannot afford the costs of visits and health services.
To get into the Christmas spirit, the University and the 'Campus Sharing' student association are organizing a special tour to discover the nativity scenes of Rome Sunday December 16, from 15.30 to 18.00. From the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, where a wooden fragment of the Sacred Manger is kept, you will cross the Rione Monti to go to the Crib Museum, a conspicuous collection of various and splendid types of traditional cribs.
Monday December 17, at 18, in the Aula Magna Trapezio, the chamber ensemble of the University will perform a Christmas Concert with music by Albeniz, Haydn, Mozart and Strauss. On that occasion it will be possible to purchase, at the cost of 10 euros, the first CD made by the Ensemble, containing pieces by great composers and, in its world premiere, the transcription for violin of Mozart's K.265 variations. The proceeds from the CD will go towards scholarships for the most deserving students. It may also be requested by writing to [email protected] and [email protected].
Tuesday 18 December, at 16 pm the students who carry out voluntary work in the Polyclinic will give away small gifts to patientshospitalized. At 17.30, however, the theater workshop will propose to CESA the reading of theA Midsummer Night's Dream' which will be followed by a Christmas toast and buffet.
The Rector will say goodbye teachers and students to exchange Christmas greetings scheduled Wednesday 19 December. After the Holy Mass at 12.30 in the Polyclinic, a lunch with a toast will be set up in the PRABB restaurant. To encourage everyone's participation, the Academic Senate has decided to suspend teaching activities from 12.00 to 15.30. The staff will be able to have lunch at the restaurants of the Policlinico and CESA.
For staff of the University and the Polyclinic the Christmas Party is on the calendar Thursday 20 December in the Polyclinic. After the celebration of Holy Mass at 13 in the large chapel, the restaurant hall will welcome all the staff to exchange greetings. Access is allowed from the hall exit corridor.
As per tradition, during the exchange of greetings, the best representations of the Nativity created by the various departments of the University and the Polyclinic will be awarded. There is still time until 9th December to sign up for competition e until December 16 to set up the cribs. The creations will be examined by the jury who will evaluate creativity, originality and adherence to the theme chosen this year: "The true light came into the world, the one that illuminates every man".
Immediately after, starting at 15, the polyphonic choir of the University, directed by Maestro Nicola Tallarico, will cheer patients and visitors with sweet Christmas melodies in the hall of the Polyclinic and then in the wards, where student volunteers will distribute gifts.
They will also toast to Christmas which comes together with the Rector and the Director General of the University students' families, 20th December, from 17. The meeting will open with a reflection on a topical issue and will also see the participation of the children of our Polo Nursery-Childhood, who will recite some Christmas poems before making room for the concert of the Polyphonic Choir Laurentum San Romualdo Abbot.
The University also offers the possibility of giving away solidarity products in support of research, teaching and healthcare projects. The Ensemble CD, the Firminio signed pochette, the Christmas cards and the book “Malata di Vita” can be requested from the Supporters Office (floor 0 - PRABB).
Finally, these days, until January 11, the traditional is set up at CESA Christmas market organized by the Alberto Sordi Onlus Association with artifacts made by the elderly of the Day Center. The proceeds from the sale of the products will be used for the activities of the Centre's tailoring, knitwear, space-decoration and carpentry workshops.
