July 16, 2021 - Started between the Advanced Research Center (PRABB) and the University Hospital the construction of a new building dedicated to teaching, first realization of the Urban Masterplan by Labics and Topotek 1, winner of the International Competition that will provide the University with new spaces for study and university life according to the provisions of the Development Plan to 2045.

Permeability with the nearby Decima Malafede Nature Reserve, eco-sustainability, structural flexibility and the availability of large spaces for informal interaction and learning are the main features of the new building which will cover a total area of approximately 10.500 m.

Certifiable in energy class A2 and with characteristics of Nearly Zero Energy Building (almost zero energy), the building is structured according to a rational scheme which provides for two bands of about 13 meters along the south and north fronts, where the classrooms and a central "void" on the east and west fronts where the main rooms are located: the atrium, the auditorium, the study space, the courtyard, all meeting and socializing places for the community of students and teachers.

Spread over three levels, the building will have 4 classrooms on the ground floor, each divisible into two smaller ones. At the main entrance to the west there will be the auditorium, which can also be divided into two classrooms and can also be used for public events and a refreshment area. Four further classrooms, also divisible, will be available on the first floor, which will also house a large office area and meeting rooms (about 350 m400), the large study room overlooking the internal courtyard (about 400 m) and a chapel. The basement will instead be dedicated to the Simulation Center (about square meters) and will house all the technical and service spaces.

The definition of the name of the building is ongoing with the active and valuable participation of students and faculty.

The works also include the construction of new underground car parks with innovative mobility solutions to serve the new building and the University Hospital and the equipping of a green area to serve the university community and citizens.

In anticipation of the foundation stone laying ceremony scheduled for September, work is progressing apace and it is estimated that thebuilding may be available for the 2022/2023 academic year.
