20 January 2022 - A year of life stories, a year of attention, professionalism and passion of doctors and nurses aimed at the weakest segment of patients: those who are struggling against the most advanced stage of the disease. Opened December 16, 2020 on the first floor of Center for the Health of the Elderly (CESA) of the University Hospital, palliative care center "Together for care" it wants to be a place where life, if possible, has even more value.
"We are convinced that palliative care is still largely a reality to be made known to people" explains the teacher Maria Grazia De Marinis who runs the center. "Whole families write to us thanking us for how palliative care has changed the last part of the life of their loved ones, for how life has unfolded within our center, for our vision of home care. Giving back hope and well-being too in these phases of the disease to patients and their families it is for us a central element of our daily action".
The center that offers 12 residential places and 48 for home care is able to operate throughout the territory of Rome and the Lazio Region. Patients are assisted by a team of doctors and nurses, palliative specialists, psychologists, social and health workers, physiotherapists, as well as social and spiritual assistants and a network of coordinated volunteers to ensure maximum support for the patient's best quality of life, in compliance with of an assistance plan built around the single person. A continuous work that the team of "Together in the cure" wants to make known more and more: also for this reason in January and February they were organized two appointments in the CME training course "End of life between rights and law", open not only to professionals but also to students and postgraduates.
