October 19, 2015 - A nature project available to all citizens. This is the last step achieved by the collaboration betweenUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, New Agriculture Social Cooperative el 'RomaNatura Regional Body. The creation of the "Sentiero Natura Andrea D'Ambrosio", inaugurated on Saturday 10 October, in fact combines enhancement of the territory and openness to citizenship, within the broader objective of promoting correct lifestyles.
The path, made in remembrance of teacher. Andrea D'Ambrosio, a young cardiologist at the University Hospital who is passionate about nature and passed away in 2014, was traced within the 6.100 hectares of Decima Malafede Nature Reserve. Si it connects at the University Hospital to the cycle-pedestrian path of via Álvaro del Portillo, and leads to the panoramic terrace of the Torre di Perna, tracing in this last stretch the ancient existing path, redeveloped and enriched with seats and wooden fences. As noted by the ACouncilor for Infrastructure, Housing Policies and the Environment of the Lazio Region, Fabio Refrigeri stated, "finally therefore technology, innovation and nature are no longer divided, but united in a beautiful example of collaboration and synergy." The initiative is in fact supported by the Municipality IX of Rome Capital and by the same Lazio region, and therefore re-launches the strategic value of collaboration between the public and private sectors, united in the service of the community. On the other hand, as recalled by the President of theUCBM Felice Barela, "after training and assistance, the third mission of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma is precisely that of interacting with the territory that hosts it and in which it feels at home." As recalled by Davide lotteries, President of Campus Bio-Medico Spa, "the park relieves our patients, enriches our students, brings us closer to the neighborhood. The inauguration of the Nature Trail Andrea D'Ambrosio therefore constitutes another important step in the process of integration between the territory and the Bio-Medico Campus, which has dealt, among other things, with restoring the Selcetta Valley, which has been decidedly damaged."
However, the initiative does not constitute a sporadic action. It's the same Maurice Gubbiotti, Extraordinary Commissioner of the RomaNatura Regional Body, to explain that "with the Campus Bio-Medico we have started a real teamwork, with the sharing of working methods and above all common objectives."
The path is characterized by elements of notable flora-faunal (spring and wetland), historical (abandoned flint quarry) and landscape (belvedere over the Perna Valley) interest, and can therefore be configured to all intents and purposes as a real excursion didactic-scientific, thanks to illustrative panels and in-depth information sheets.
