September 15th - An application that helps to take into account the energy consumption of water and the production of waste, making customers more aware of their consumption. It is one of the solutions developed by the participants of the Digital Sustainability Bootcamp 2021, the training course promoted by UCBM in collaboration with Marzotto Venture Accelerator for university students, graduates and researchers on the topics of digitization and artificial intelligence applied to the world of circular economy and sustainable development.
A three-week training for the 22 participants who were able to find innovative solutions to the business challenges proposed by Ucbm's industrial partners. “An experience in which students were able to periodically interact with the business world and come into direct contact with concrete case studies,” he explained Luca Vollero, Associate Professor of Information Processing Systems and Scientific Director of the 2021 Bootcamp.
All through didactics that have revolutionized traditional methods by proposing workshops, project work and resolution of case studies alongside tutors of international origin. "I learned to work in a team even with people from different cultures, combining creativity and passion in the search for a solution that would allow citizens to better separate waste", said Marzia Piemonteif, enrolled in the Path of Excellence in Industrial Engineering UCBM and among the Bootcamp participants.
The growth in the ability to work as a team on a common goal is what Riccardo Matteoli, also a student of the Industrial Engineering course of excellence, takes home: “The thing that struck me most was the mentality transmitted by the teachers. They made us think differently, as they say out of the box. An experience that came at the right time to grow as a student and as a person”.
In addition to the purely technical aspects, in fact, the Digital Sustainabilty Bootcamp represented an opportunity to get involved also in the development of soft skills, as underlined by Asia Rizzini, a 2nd year Medicine and Surgery student: "Growth not only from the from a technical point of view, but also from a human one. With a non-engineering background, I learned to handle difficult situations and obstacles”.
Bootcamp 2021 was created in collaboration with A3cube, Acea Energia, Axxel, Cisco, DXC.Technology, IBM, IEEE Sensors Council Italy, Mashfrog Group, Phygiwork, Edison, Unlavoro Confindustria, Intesa Sanpaolo. The appointment for a new Bootcamp is for next summer.
