These are the first numbers that describe the new emergency room active from 18.00 on 1 September 2020, a top-level Emergency and Admissions Department (DEA) developed on 2100 square meters fully integrated into the Policlinico building, accredited by the Joint Commission International, and built following the most up-to-date organisational, technological and triage models.
Inserted in the territory of Asl Roma 2 which has 1,3 million inhabitants, in via àlvaro del Portillo 192, Trigoria area, which has 1,3 million inhabitants, the Emergency Department of Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital increases the public health supply of the southwest quadrant of the capital (Eur, Spinaceto, Mostacciano, Laurentino, Pontina) in response to people's health needs.
With a design and construction effort that lasted until recent weeks, the Emergency Department of the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital has adapted to the most recent provisions of the Lazio Region to guarantee maximum safety for all patients who access the Trigoria health facility, a safe hospital.
The Emergency Department expands the emergency-urgency network of Rome by making a new level I DEA available to the community. It is included in the time-dependent networks of the Lazio Region to ensure timely treatment for all pathologies and, in particular, for those:
- acute cerebrovascular (stroke),
- acute vascular (aneurysms),
- acute heart disease (heart attacks),
as well as for all cases of traumatology and acute surgical pathologies.
With the activation of the new DEA, the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital also sees the opening of a new emergency medicine department. The structure of the new Emergency Room has a dedicated operating room located in the immediate vicinity of the high intensity as well as the Interventional radiology and hemodynamics. The new Goddess of Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital can also count on a service of Imaging diagnostics dedicated equipped with a TAC 300 layers with very high performance.
Among the characterizing elements: theorganization of patient flow by levels of severity (subdivided into medium-low and high intensity). Great attention has been paid to privacy, comfort and well-being of patients with the preparation of OBI areas (Short Intensive Observation) with 7 beds for those who need a longer period of observation and one holding area from 14 separate beds between men and women for those waiting for the bed for hospitalization or transfer to other facilities in case of lack of available bed.
There are two separate routes planned: A fever path created to safely manage access to the emergency room by minimizing risks in this period characterized by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Inside the Dea the triage is equipped with first visit rooms, reception with refreshment area, monitors and information displays together with comfortable spaces designed like small living rooms. Investment in theaccessibility: they will be present in the emergency room parking lot stalls reserved for people with disabilities and a pink parking.
THEheliport it is located a few meters from the entrance to the Dea and will allow the use of air ambulances.
