In office since 1st November 2022
Today the Board of Directors of the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome has appointed the academic team that will work with the new Rector, Professor Eugenio Guglielmelli, and who will officially take office from 1 November 2022, together with the Academic Senate composed of the Pro-Rectors and the Deans. The new team, completed by the Faculty Councils (Vice Deans, Presidents of Degree Courses and Research and Third Mission Coordinators) will lead the University which today counts over 3.000 students, about 500 medical specialists and more than 150 PhD students, with 3 Departmental Faculties, 14 degree courses, 26 graduate schools and a wide range of masters and postgraduate courses.
In particular, the Rector will be joined in the Academic Senate by 3 Prorectors: Prof. Laura De Gara with proxy for didactics, who will also be Vice Rector of the Rector, Prof. Simonetta Filippi, Integrated Academic Development and Prof. Sara Ramella, Integration and Social Impact. The principals will be Prof. Vincent DiLazzaro, for the Departmental Faculty of Medicine and Surgery; Prof. Loredana Zollo, for the Departmental Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Marcella Trombetta, for the Departmental Faculty of Science and Technology for Man and the Environment; and dr. Andrea Rossi, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager already in office. those appointments express the strategic guidelines of the new Rector's mandate, which aims at further strengthen scientific research- Guglielmelli has given a strong boost to the growth of research activities as Pro-Rector for Research since 2013 - as a fundamental lever of the distinctive quality also of didactics, continuous training and the third mission in the broadest sense.

All within a vision of scientific progress attentive to the 'ecology of the spirit', which respects the centrality of the person and works in close synergy with the objectives and perspectives of the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital Foundation.”.

>> Born in 1965, Eugenio Guglielmelli has a degree in electronic engineering with a PhD in Electronic, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering. Since 2003 he has been teaching at the Departmental Faculty of Engineering of the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome and since 2010 he has been full professor of Industrial Bioengineering. Since 2021 he has been the Coordinator of the National PhD course in Artificial Intelligence for Health and Life Sciences. Since 2021 he has been designated by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) national representative of Italy in the Horizon Europe Program Committee - Cluster Health and since April 2022 member of the Italian delegation of the G7 working group - Science. Since July 2021 he has been the Scientific Director of the IRCCS Don Carlo Gnocchi Onlus Foundation. His research interests are the theoretical and methodological aspects of bioengineering, robotics and intelligent machines, with particular reference to the field of mechatronic and robotic technologies for the rehabilitation and assistance of the disabled and the elderly, neuro-robotics, bionics and biorobotics. He is the author of over 500 scientific publications that have appeared in international journals, books and international conference proceedings on the topics of bioengineering and biomedical robotics.
