The Master in Homeland Security hosted in the Italy Situation Room

October 07, 2020 - On Thursday 24 September 2020, the students of the th edition of the Master in Homeland Security visited the Italian Situation Room of the Civil Protection Department in Rome. The professor. Roberto Setola, Ordinary of Automatica of theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, personally accompanied the students on this first permitted visit since the health emergency due to Covid-19 began. An important sign of recovery for the entire country as well as of fundamental importance for this edition of the Master's Degree which in the educational program includes the integration of classroom lessons with visits to public and private entities.

The Italian Situation Room of the Civil Protection Department is a national coordination center that collects, verifies and disseminates information from the department. It has the task of identifying emergency situations and immediately alerting the various components and operational structures of the National Service which contribute to the management of emergencies. In fact, it operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year, in collaboration with the regions, the prefectures and with the operators of the communication structures with the aim of collecting and disseminating news on emergency situations and interventions in real time ongoing at national and local level. The students had the opportunity to visit the facility and were able to personally meet the professionals who work there.
