Signed the agreement for innovation in hospital and home care management. Focus on acute and chronic cardiovascular problems

June 24, 2021 - Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and Almawave, an Italian company listed on AIM Italia (Ticker: AIW) and leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI), natural language analysis and big data services, announce the signing of a three-year agreement which provides for joint activities to support the development and technological innovation in the field of artificial intelligence systems applied to health and in particular to the prevention and monitoring of cardiovascular diseases.

The project underlying the agreement, through the company's wealth of skills and cutting-edge technologies, combined with the research experience ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, the leading university of the National Doctorate in AI PhD-AI.it (Health and Life Science Area) established by MIUR and CNR, aims to apply the most innovative AI systems to the many fields of medicine. All with the more general objective of increasing the technical-scientific knowledge of the parties and responding with ever greater force to the challenges of the digital transformation of society.

Almawave e Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, in particular, intend to develop and validate a model that supports the highest AI technologies doctors and healthcare professionals in the management of patients, both acute and chronic, suffering from cardiovascular diseases. The latter are now the leading cause of death in Italy.

It is therefore essential to research, experiment and then create easily usable tools that act both from a prevention perspective - for example through technologies that provide useful information to doctors in real time for anamnesis and diagnosis - and to facilitate treatment or rehabilitation pathways, in the hospital as well as at home, favoring the autonomy of the patient.

«The collaboration project between Almawave and UCBM was born with the aim of making a concrete contribution to the development of eHealth, combining scientific research, medical-health excellence and high technological competence in an integrated innovation chain, at the service of citizens and the territory» stresses Valeria Sandei, Chief Executive Officer of Almawave, «Digital and Artificial Intelligence systems can be a strategic ally in the field of health protection and promotion and can play a significant role in supporting doctors in various fields, from tools of knowledge to experimental projects, from prevention to diagnostic processes and care".

"We have entered into this agreement with Almawave to bring medicine to the area more and more and simplify the relationship between doctors, patients and data thanks to artificial intelligence - he explained Raffaele Calabrò, Rector ofUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma - For some time theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma has created synergies between healthcare and engineering activities and today, thanks to the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence, it wants to continue. We cannot forget the direct relationship between doctor and patient: technology can improve people's health but the care relationship must remain".

As part of the partnership, research and development programs, exchanges with researchers and students, internships at Almawave as well as multi-level training courses will also be developed and promoted.
