The testimony of Augustus, who grew up professionally and personally in UCBM
"I remember very well the beginning of my university career, so many emotions felt when I crossed the threshold of the University for the first time.
Far from home, from my family who had always shielded me and from friends, it was the beginning of a new life. Impossible to hide the fear of the first period, the fear you feel when you approach something new. Fortunately, however, it didn't last long, slowly I began to get used to it and to gain confidence; I made important friendships that I still keep today and I discovered in the University a family environment ready to support me in all the difficulties that a young student may find themselves experiencing. The Campus was becoming like a second home.
After the first years, full of emotions and experiences, the most important moment of my educational and life path arrived: I decided to apply as Student Representative. It certainly wasn't easy to reconcile study and representation but this helped me learn to organize myself and know how to manage my time. Thanks to this role, I was also able to build relationships with other students from the other faculties of the Campus, trying to figure out what to do to help them. I tried to establish a direct relationship between the University bodies and all the students who experience it every day, trying to act as an intermediary myself.
Along the way I met wonderful people and I felt honored to be able to collaborate with all the figures of our University who work every day to improve it. I have learned and continue to learn a lot from them. I was lucky enough to live experiences so strong that they can hardly be forgotten: speaking before the President of the Republic, meeting the Holy Father Pope Francis, discussing some issues with the Minister of the University Manfredi.
As icing on the cake of this dense path, I decided to add another experience, applying as a candidate Student representatives of all the universities of Lazio in the Lazio Disco regional body, the body that deals with the rights to study. I am happy to be able to see today a great participation of the students of the University in the university representation activities; I am pleased to see how enthusiastically the young people approached this year's elections with numerous lists and candidates proposed.
In conclusion, I can say that this experience has made me grow a lot, it has given me more security, greatly enriching my personal background".
