An initiative desired by the students to keep the professor's memory alive

June 8, 2022"In memory of Sergio Morini, teacher in the classroom and outside". It is the dedication placed in the fence surrounding the olive tree planted this morning in the square between PRABB and Trapezio dell'Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma. An initiative wanted by the students to keep alive in the academic community UCBM the memory of the professor who died last March.

Historical figure for our University, "Among the first teachers of the Campus – as recalled the Rector Raffaele Calabrò - but above all a Master for many students and researchers, he experienced the University as a place of training, personal and professional growth, values and virtues”. The presence of an olive tree in his memory positioned under the library, the nerve center of university life, will be an opportunity for students and staff of the University to "address a thought, a memory, a prayer to a splendid person, very dear to all of us", continued the Rector.

"Professor Morini loved living among us students, among the tumult of our university lives, sharing the silence of the study but also the euphoria of the celebrations at the end of an exam - comments Simone Pavone, student council president – This is why we decided to plant the tree right here, among us, so that it can be an inspiration every day and remind us of the spirit with which he dedicated himself to teaching and his relationship with students".

He echoes it Chiara Surace, student council vice president: "We have chosen the olive tree which is a tree that bears fruit. We like to think that we too, with the strong roots that this University is transmitting to us, can bear fruit that Prof. Morini would have been proud of".

Touching the testimony of Gaetana LaMarca, a 4th year student of Medicine and Surgery, who recalled the availability that prof. Morini dedicated them in the difficult moment of preparation for the human anatomy exam. "For a year he welcomed me into his studio, putting up with me. It was fundamental for me, he taught me a lot. I felt like home in his studio, I felt like a safe haven. Today knowing that I can come here to 'annoy' him again reassures me Thank you professor.”
