The conference promoted by UCBM together with the CNR

It was held last Wednesday at theUniversità Campus Bio-Medico di Roma the conference entitled: "Research and innovation on green transition, biodiversity and sustainability", organized as part of the celebrations for the thirtieth anniversary of the University and the centenary of National Research Council, In collaboration with the Regional Coordination Committee of the Universities of Lazio e Rome Technopole. The event was an opportunity for dialogue and reflection between the protagonists of the academic world, research, business and civil society on the relationship between science and technology in the priority theme of the impulse to innovation for sustainable progress, with an approach oriented towards constant collaboration and the exchange of skills also at an international level.

"We are convinced that this moment of university-business dialogue, in a strong team with the CNR, will be able to offer a significant contribution to research and innovation strategies for the socio-economic sustainability and resilience of our country", said the Rector Eugenio Guglielmelli.

The conference was attended by the President of the CNR Maria Chiara Carrozza, which has ofchiarahave: "Universities are the first basin to look to to find young people, develop talents and look to the future. The connection with the academic world is, in this perspective, strategic and crucial".

The day continued with the keynote speech by Yu Serizawa, Director General for International Affairs of the Science and Technology in Society Forum, partner of the event, who with an international eye has explored the history of the STS Forum and illustrated its strategic vision on research and innovation, oriented towards sustainable development. 

"We wanted to activate a dialogue between leaders of the academic-scientific, industrial and political-institutional world on the vision of the society of the future as strongly promoted by the international network of the STS Forum, which involves over 100 countries", explained the Rector Guglielmelli. "We are convinced that this opportunity, in a strong team with the CNR, will be able to offer a significant contribution to research and innovation strategies for the socio-economic sustainability and resilience of our country".

Also participated, with a video contribution, the Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci. "Research and innovation are strategic for the green transition and for biodiversity, sectors in which Italy excels and see the CNR and the Campus Bio-Medico very active with experimental projects and initiatives – said the Minister – They are even more so for public health, not only to ensure the sustainability of the National Health Service and the protection of the principles of universality and equality, but also increasingly equitable and personalized health care and to overcome the inequalities still present today on the national territory".

Among the companies involved: Medtronic, Maire Tecnimont, Ferrero, Team, IBM, Amazon Eni.
