UCBM among the first universities to institute the bachelor's degree
12 May 2020 - Takes care of the person, pays attention to their care needs and makes sure that each patient can respond to treatment in the best possible way. The nurse is considered the only profession capable of giving satisfaction on a human and professional level. "The nurse is the figure who is closest to the patient and therefore, in some way, can change his life - Explains Raffaella Gualandi, deputy director of healthcare professions at the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital –It is a profession that fully involves those who practice it: competence and humanity integrate to respond to the needs of each person in any circumstance".
Nursing is an increasingly sought-after profession, which requires constant professional updating and which proceeds hand in hand with developments and challenges at a healthcare level, not least that characterized by the Covid-19 pandemic. L'Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, among the first Italian universities to have established the degree course in Nursing Sciences in 1993 to train the staff who would be hired in the Polyclinic that was about to be born, focuses on the complete professionalism of its nurses and recognizes their fundamental role for the high competence in the various care activities, but also for the attention they pay to those in need of care through a personal and dedicated relationship.
In the Nursing Degree Course ( registration for the admission test open until 5 June ) the study of scientific disciplines, as well as anthropological ones, and the experience in direct contact with the patient contribute to forming a professional capable of taking care of the person in all its aspects. Nurses, traditionally employed in hospital wards, in home care and in other places at a territorial level, are increasing in companies, in the world of welfare, insurance companies, biotechnology and the third sector.
2020 is the International Year of the Nurse and today May 12 is the bicentenary of the birth of Florence Nightngale (May 12, 1820), the architect of modern nursing. "Pwe are working today for nurses, men, women, boys and girls who have this profession, more than a profession, it is a vocation, a dedication. The Lord bless them. In this time of the pandemic they have set an example of heroism" the Pope said at the beginning of morning mass. Nurses, together with doctors and other health professionals, are fighting on the front lines to counter the serious health emergency that is affecting the world. Their commitment, today more than ever, is precious for the good of the community.
