The announcement of the winners is expected in the autumn
July 9, 2021 - The call has come alive "University Strategic Project – Young Researcher Scientific Independence", conceived and entirely financed by the University to encourage and enhance the research of young researchers. 33 projects, of which well 24 presented by doctoral students belonging to the three Departmental Faculties of the University, were examined by a group of internal auditors - a total of around one hundred - who evaluated the projects in just a few weeks, selecting six for the second phase. This time it will be external auditors who are experts on the individual topics dealt with and who will decide the two best projects, which will win a prize of 25 euros each.
The selected projects concern studies on possible causes of Alzheimer's and experiments of anti-inflammatory dietary supplements to combat the progression of the disease; research on regeneration of intervertebral discs; initiatives of valorisation of waste products in the food chain and finally, in the field of environmental sustainability issues, studies on water treatment for its use in developing countries.
"A prerequisite for accessing the second phase of the tender was the achievement of an average score above 5. As many as 18 projects achieved it and we are very satisfied for this", commented the teacher. Giovanni Di Pino, responsible for the working table called by the Rector for the development of young researchers.
The announcement of the winners is expected in the autumn.
