Born in Catanzaro (CZ), November the 19th, 1964
Married, three sons.
1987 - Graduated in Biological Science Biologist with a score of 110/110 cum laude, University of Rome “La Sapienza”
1988 – Professional habilitation as Biologist
1989 – Researcher at Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA)
2014- Italian scientific habilitation (ASN) as associated professor for section 0 05/I1 – Genetics and Microbiology

• Head of the ENEA Laboratory for Agrifood Sustainability, Quality and Safety, Biotechnologies and Agroindustry Division, Department for Sustainability, Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development, Casaccia Research Center, Rome (I)
Current Research Interests
Research Activity in Agro-Food, Environmental and Clinical Microbiology. Author of more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and 150 communications at national and international conferences (as invited and/or selected speaker, posters).
The research activity covered the following themes:
I) Food microbiology: molecular tools for food quality and safety; characterization of food-associated bacteria; shelf-life microbiological assessment; effect of innovative packaging and process in the microbial community composition.
II) Soil microbiology: soil microbial diversity; effects of microbiome-application on soil and rhizosphere microbiomes; plant-microbe interactions; biofertilizer and microbial consortia assessment; delivery methods.
III) Environmental microbiology: microbial ecology; opportunistic pathogens in natural environment; polymicrobial interactions; microbial biofim; host-pathogen interaction; adaptation of environmental strains.
IV) Clinical microbiology: cystic fibrosis lung microbiome; gut-lung microbiome; shotgun and targeted metagenomic analysis; resistome; polymicrobial interactions and network analysis.
