Healthcare 5.0: New perspectives in healthcare innovation and assessment

Project objectives

The Healthcare 5.0 paradigm is a multi-level transformation that involves cultural, scientific, regulatory, and organizational change that places people and their well-being at the center. It is shaped by information and communication technologies (ICT), artificial intelligence-based devices, medical robotics, and biomedical applications, and highlights the need for a new approach to healthcare management, similar to the JCI (Joint Commission International). The new Healthcare 5.0 model focuses on the shift from a paradigm based on technological development to a rethinking of technology for the human being, emphasizing the active and participatory role of individuals in design and evaluation. For this reason, it is urgent to consider the theoretical, applicative, social, and ethical aspects of this new paradigm in the post-pandemic scenario. What role does Healthcare 5.0 play in the healthcare challenges of the coming years, such as chronic disease management or degenerative diseases? Does the 5.0 model bring a more sustainable paradigm to healthcare? How should we read and process data from smart devices associated with patients? Can the concept of health and illness change based on the new healthcare model? How does physical-digital health change the doctor-patient relationship? The project aims to address the following topics: Characterization of the Healthcare 5.0 concept Relationship between Healthcare 4.0 and 5.0 Analyzing the patient's role in Healthcare 5.0 from ethical, epistemological and theoretical perspectives. Social and economic factors related to the intelligent patient Redefining the concept of personalized medicine Social, political, economic and legal implications of the emerging paradigm Healthcare 5.0: implications for healthcare management and JCI The implication of the physical-digital patient in data management and human rights. Healthcare 5.0 for sustainable development and an ecological approach. The project and the Expert Meeting will be divided into three sections, each of which will host leading experts in the sector: a) Healthcare 5.0 and technology: Blockchain, IoT, Augmented and Mixed Reality, Machine Learning and AI. b) Trustworthy (technological) care: a human-centered approach c) Healthcare 5.0 and technology assessment: economic, social and ethical implications
