Study of cross talk between fibroblasts and epithelial cells in the salivary glands of patients with Sjogren's syndrome
Project objectives
Translational study to study the role of fibroblasts in the salivary glands of patients with Sjogren's Syndrome to investigate their role in the recall of lymphocytes, in the formation of ectopic lymphoid structures and their contribution in their maintenance and in the chronicity of the pathology. Furthermore, it aims to evaluate how fibroblasts and epithelial cells can influence each other in creating the niche suitable for the formation of ectopic lymphoid structures in germinal centers through cell co-culture models.
