Project objectivesThe present multicenter randomized phase 3 study, involving non-metastatic anal cancer patients, aims to evaluate whether the addition of deep hyperthermia can improve the efficacy of standard radiochemotherapy with mitomycin C and 5-fluorouracil by comparing the primary and secondary results with those of standard treatment, i.e. with radiochemotherapy alone. The primary goal is to improve the complete remission (CR) rate to approximately 95%, from a rate of 80% achieved with standard therapy. |
