Effect of temperature on human colon strip contractility. Study on the pathogenesis of paralytic ileus
Project objectives
Research aims to study the electrophysiological response of human intestinal tissue to external stimuli, such as exposure to the environmental agents (temperature), involved in the etiopathogenesis of digestive system diseases such as paralytic ileus. Based on experimental data, it also aims to develop mathematical prediction models. The later objective is in collaboration with the laboratory of theoretical physics and mathematical models run by the Industrial Engineering Faculty of the Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and coordinated by Prof. Simonetta Filippi.
