Prediction of cognitive decline in mild cognitive impairment (MCI) subjects carrying genetic risk factors based on quantitative EEG and transcranial magnetic stimulation markers
Project Objectives
The primary objective of the project is to develop an early diagnostic tool for Alzheimer's disease that has a low costs for the National Health Service in order to increase the efficacy of therapies against the disease that are still beinging tested. To achieve this goal, the methodology applied is EEG/TMS co-registration, a modern neurophysiological technique that allows the analysis of EEG responses induced by transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
EEG-TMS co-registration is able to pair good spatial resolution with excellent temporal resolution so guaranteeding an effective and innovative study of brain connectivity, which is considered primarily involved in early Alzheimer's disease.
