RAnolazine for Ischemia-reperfusion injury prevention in Diabetic patients undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (RAID Study)

Project Objectives

Nowadays, no study has investigated the effects of ranolazine pre-treatment on IRI and periprocedural myocardial damage in diabetic patients undergoing revascularization by PCI. Thus the aim of our study is to evaluate the possible positive effect of this new drug in this setting, other than its antianginal action; we speculate that on the basis of its biological actions on myocardial and endothelial cells, this drug may prevent this complication and improve considerably myocardial performance and prognosis after PCI.

Type of study: prospective, randomized trial
