Specialized pro-resolving lipid mediators as a new therapeutic strategy in the resolution of the adaptive immune response in multiple sclerosis

Project Objectives

The projects aims at studying the ability of crucial specialized pro-resolving lipid mediators, such as resolving D1, resolving D2 and maresin 1, to restore the altered balance between regulatory T cells and effector T cells in patients with multiple sclerosis. In particular, the capacity of these molecules to modulate the inflammatory responses driven by these adaptive immune cells will be investigated during the pathogenesis of the disease, and so will be the ability of immune stem precursors to directly produce pro-resolving lipids.
