Security for Transport Workers
Project ObjectivesThe project aims to create a system to analyse the causes, effects and characteristics of events involving aggression against personnel operating in the transport sector in order to support a proper risk management, understand the links between the events analysed, identify and evaluate the various 'personal safety' devices in order to help define a policy to combat such events. The transport sector is particularly exposed to the phenomenon of workplace violence as daily work activities include tasks of direct interaction with users and potentially at risk. In Italy there are more than 4,000 cases of violence in the workplace per year, and an increasing percentage of these affect transport employees. However, there are no comprehensive statistics describing the phenomenon. Our project aims to fill this gap by creating a real database that allows us to understand the causes, dynamics and effects of the phenomenon, as well as to contribute to the development of strategies for managing and combating the phenomenon in order to prevent and limit its negative consequences for workers. The project aims to create a dynamic monitoring of the phenomenon by creating a geo-referenced database that not only provides a snapshot of the phenomenon at a given moment in time, but also follows its evolution in real time thanks to the ability to combine information from operators with information automatically collected from open sources such as the press on the web. This information will make it possible to carry out both an analysis of the typical dynamics of aggression (how it is generated, how it evolves, etc.) and to identify the prodromal and contextualisation phenomena that increase/decrease the risk of violence in order to support operators in the correct management of this high-risk class. |
