Use of transcutaneous vagal stimulation to improve motor recovery in stroke patients
Project objectivesThe aim of the present study is to evaluate the efficacy of transcutaneous vagal stimulation to enhance the effects of rehabilitation in patients with upper limb functional impairment caused by ischemic or haemorrhagic stroke. Furthermore, the possible mechanisms of action of transcutaneous vagal stimulation in the brain will be evaluated using neurophysiological techniques by comparing the data obtained in patients and the data obtained in healthy volunteers. |
