For students, Medical Residents and PhD Candidates

The Counseling Service supports students experiencing personal or academic difficulties by helping them identify the underlying causes of psychological distress, develop effective coping strategies, and acquire practical tools to address personal and academic challenges constructively.

Available free of charge to students, medical residents and PhD candidates, the service is part of the University's broader commitment to promoting personal well-being and preventing psychological distress. It complements other University initiatives, including the Personal Tutoring Service, the cultural, recreational and sports activities organised through Campus Life, and the University's Nutrition Education programmes.

The counselling programme includes up to 10 individual sessions, typically scheduled on a weekly basis, depending on the availability of the assigned counsellor and the individual's needs. Sessions are held in person in the dedicated facilities of Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma.

Counselling sessions are available in Italian, English or Spanish.

The University's Counseling and Psychological Support Service does not provide psychiatric care or prescribe medication. Counseling sessions are intended to offer a supportive space for listening, guidance, and assistance in addressing academic and personal challenges.

Please note that the Counseling Service is not intended for emergencies or acute mental health crises. If you are experiencing severe or persistent psychological distress or require immediate assistance, please contact the Italian emergency services by calling 112 and follow the instructions provided by the operator.
