METRIP – MEthodological Tool for Railway Infrastructure Protection
Project Objectives
The METRIP project deals with the development of developing tools aimed at increasing the protection of the Railway Infrastructure Systems (RISs). This objective has been reached by a decisional process composed by several activities, which included: the statement of the problem, the quantitative evaluation of the vulnerabilities and criticalities, the analysis of the relationships/correlations among the RIS assets and attack scenarios. More precisely, METRIP methodology addresses several issues, such as the identification of the most typical RIS weak points and the analysis of the attack scenarios main features by means of quantitative measures about the vulnerability of the assets in order to allow the effective location of protection devices within the asset. This outcome has been reached by the implementation of prototypal smart decisional tools able to:
- suggest the kind and the optimum localization of protection devices, in order to maximize the protection effectiveness according to the resources available;
- evaluating the effectiveness of the protection framework within a specific asset according to given inputs.
