Prof. Roberto Giacomelli

Biografia

Roberto Giacomelli, was born in Ancona on 15-08-1957, was graduated “cum laude” in the School of Medicine of the University of Rome “La Sapienza”on 31-07-1981, were he also concluded his training in Internal Medicine and Clinical Immunology in 1986. He also received Phd in Experimental Immunology. Presently he is Professor of Rheumatology and Director of the immuno-Rheumatology Clinical Unit at the University of Rome, campus biomedico, School of Medicine. In the last 20 years he was always recipient of grants supported by PRIN ( progetti di ricerca di interesse nazionale ), Ministry of Health and Ministry of Research, for his research in the field of Scleroderma. He has a particular interest in vascular inflammatory disease. He is a member of the Italian Society of Rheumatology, of the Italian Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and of the Italian Society of Stem Cell Research. He participate in numerous international scientific groups including European Scleroderma Study Group (EU), Scleroderma Clinical Trial Consortium (USA), Eular Scleroderma Trial And Research group (EUSTAR) (EU), Autologous Stem cell Transplantation International Scleroderma Trial (ASTIS TRIAL) (EU). He is a referee for several Journals in the fields of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology and is the author of over 200 published scientific articles, reviews and book chapters. He has been involved in phase II, III, IV clinical studies according to GCP.
