Programme Objectives and General Information
The Foundation Year programme (FY) is a one-year pre-university curriculum aimed at international students who wish to study in Italy.
Its aim is to:
- fill in any educational gaps in the fundamental subjects assessed in the admission tests to the 6-year Masters Degree Programme in Medicine and Surgery and to the 3-year Bachelors Degree Course in Biomedical Engineering.
- improve the Italian/English language skills for academic purposes.

Potential Candidates
- Non-EU citizens not resident in Italy who have obtained or will obtain in the academic year 2024/2025 the High School Diploma or another qualification valid for entry to University in their country of origin, with at least 11 years of schooling.
- Eligible candidates must have an upper-intermediate level of English (B2).
Submission of Applications
Candidates who intend to enroll in the Foundation Year are required to read carefully the enrolment procedure and submit. Via e-mail ([email protected]) the documents enlisted in the "Enrolment Procedures Foundation Year 2025/2026".
The following documents must be attached to the application:
a) Foundation Year Application Form (Annex B of the "Enrollment Procedure") duly completed and signed;
b) a copy of one of the English language proficiency certifications listed in Annex A of the "Enrollment Procedure";
c) a copy of the qualification accompanied by a legal translation into Italian or English;
d) a copy of the passport.
The Declaration of Value of the foreign qualification, issued by the competent diplomatic or consular authorities or, alternatively, the certification issued by CIMEA, must be provided by the candidate no later than 31st October 2025. Enrollment is considered conditional until the submission of this document.
Tuition Fee
The total cost of the Foundation Year program is € 6,000.00 (six thousand/00), divided into two installments:
- € 3000.00 (three thousand/00) at the time of enrollment;
- € 3000.00 (three thousand/00) by15th December 2025.
VISA APPLICATION
Please note that pre-enrolment at the university does not in any way guarantee an appointment at the diplomatic-consular offices for the submission of visa applications.
It should also be noted that, as already stated in the ministerial circular entitled ‘Procedure per l’ingresso, il soggiorno, l’immatricolazione degli studenti internazionali e il relativo riconoscimento dei titoli, per i corsi della formazione superiore in Italia valide per l’anno accademico 2025-2026’ (‘Procedures for the entry, stay, enrolment of international students and the related recognition of qualifications for higher education courses in Italy valid for the academic year 2025-2026’) on page 7, the prior acceptance of a candidate by the university does not confer any right to obtain a visa, given that the issuance of study visas is the exclusive responsibility of the individual diplomatic-consular representations.
