Programme Objectives and General Information
The Foundation Year programme (FY) is a one-year pre-university curriculum aimed at international students who wish to study in Italy.
Its aim is to:
- fill in any educational gaps in the fundamental subjects assessed in the admission tests to the 6-year Masters Degree Programme in Medicine and Surgery and to the 3-year Bachelors Degree Course in Biomedical Engineering.
- improve the Italian/English language skills for academic purposes.

Visa Application
Please note that pre-enrollment at the university does not in any way guarantee an appointment at the diplomatic-consular offices for the submission of visa applications.
It should also be noted that, as already stated in the ministerial circular entitled ‘Procedure per l’ingresso, il soggiorno, l’immatricolazione degli studenti internazionali e il relativo riconoscimento dei titoli, per i corsi della formazione superiore in Italia valide per gli anni accademici 2026-2027 e 2027-2028’ (‘Procedures for the entry, stay, enrollment of international students and the related recognition of qualifications for higher education courses in Italy valid for the academic years 2026-2027 e 2027-2028’) on page 8, the prior acceptance of a candidate by the university does not confer any right to obtain a visa, given that the issuance of study visas is the exclusive responsibility of the individual diplomatic-consular Representations.
